The Sten K. Johnson Centre for Entrepreneurship Mentorship Programme
Bridging aspiration and experience for a long-lasting impact
Our mentorship programme is one of the most critical aspects through which we engage and embed our students in the M.Sc. Programme in Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the business world.
The purpose of the Mentorship Programme at Sten K. Johnson Centre for Entrepreneurship is to match engaged practitioners who have experience in the entrepreneurial development process with students from the Master’s Programme in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. This well-organized programme offers our students a “real-life insight” as an entrepreneur and a valuable connection to the future by immersing them in a network of seasoned practitioners with wealth of industry and business expertise who provide valuable guidance and feedback. The student and mentor share unique experiences related to the entrepreneurial process in personal meetings to make the student better prepared for their entrepreneurial journey. The focus is on the individual student and their personal development.
Who are mentors?
Mentors are experts in their respective fields who volunteer their valuable time to guide our students in their entrepreneurial journey. The mentorship is conducted alongside their primary professional duties and is strictly non-commercial, with no financial exchanges between mentors and mentees during the master’s programme. Maintaining confidentiality concerning the mentee’s business affairs is paramount for all mentors involved.
What are the benefits for mentors?
Mentors in the programme receive training in mentorship techniques and get to learn more about the differences between coaching and mentoring. They also get continuous support from the Centre and opportunities to enhance their intercultural competence.
Other benefits for mentors also include connections with bright students from our cutting-edge entrepreneurship programme, insights into innovative business projects, participation in an international community of entrepreneurship practitioners, and exclusive access to our events and seminars.
What we expect from mentors?
Mentors should possess a strong interest in and knowledge of the business development process, demonstrating a commitment to nurturing the personal and professional growth of students in entrepreneurship. Additionally, mentors are expected to actively participate in the development of the students' business projects. A crucial part of this involves being available for personal meetings with their mentee at least once a month throughout the duration of the programme.
What is mentorship and why is it important?
Lottie Norrsén, director of external relations and Diamanto Politis, professor were interviewed on the importance of mentorship for our students. The clip is part of the project “Start a startup” developed by RISE and financed by Tillväxtverket.
