Capacity development programmes at LUSEM

Capacity development programmes are created to strengthen companies, professional organisations, authorities and individuals to achieve their own and global development initiatives, including the UN's Agenda 2030.

Empowering individuals, organisations and societies

Capacity development is the process through which individuals, organisations, and societies obtain, strengthen, and maintain the capabilities to set and achieve their own development objectives over time. Universities around the world have an important role in this development, where education and research can contribute to the reduction of poverty, increased equality, participation and democracy as well as economic development.

Driving transformation through strategic partnerships: LUSEM’s approach to capacity development

At Lund University School of Economics and Management (LUSEM), we believe that innovation thrives through collaboration. As a leading academic institution, we actively engage locally and globally with partners—industry, public sector, startups, and research institutes—to co-create capacity development programmes that empower individuals, organisations and societies to meet the challenges of tomorrow.

Our programmes are designed to be research-based and impact-driven, combining academic excellence with real-world relevance. Through strategic partnerships, we:

  • Identify emerging needs in business and society, translating them into tailored learning experiences
  • Leverage interdisciplinary expertise from across Lund University and our global network to deliver cutting-edge content
  • Co-develop initiatives that foster entrepreneurial thinking, digital transformation, sustainability, and leadership
  • Support lifelong learning by offering flexible formats for working professionals and building on LUSEMs alumni community

By working closely with our partners, LUSEM ensures that capacity development is not just about knowledge transfer—it is about building resilient, forward-thinking ecosystems that drive sustainable growth and innovation.
