Bridging academia and industry
Contract education is a dynamic exchange between academia and the surrounding society. It allows the university to translate cutting-edge research into actionable insights, answering professional development needs, while gaining valuable perspectives from professionals across industries. This mutual learning enriches both our academic environment and the organisations we work with — locally, nationally, and globally.
Flexible, tailor-made formats
We offer a wide range of formats to suit your needs
- One-day seminars to yearlong programmes
- Online, on-site, or hybrid delivery
- In Lund or at a location of your choice
- With or without academic credits

Global engagement and capacity development programmes
Our expertise also extends to capacity development programmes, in the private, public and non-profit-sectors. These initiatives support companies, governments, and individuals in achieving both local and global development goals — including the UN’s 2030 Agenda — by strengthening institutional and human capacity.

Employers and contract education
As an employer, you have the opportunity to engage Lund University when you want to develop the skills of your employees. Through contract education at Lund University School of Economics and Management (LUSEM), you receive professional development based on the latest research from one of the world's leading business schools. In collaboration with you, as a company/organisation we adapt programmes to the specific needs of your business. The content, structure, scope and pedagogy of the training can be adapted to meet the needs and challenges of your business and to suit the circumstances of your employees.
If you need perspectives from several disciplines, contract education can also be designed as an interdisciplinary programme – LUSEM can then facilitate collaboration between different faculties at Lund University to meet your needs. Contract education is intended not only to educate individuals but also to promote organisational learning and a long-term development of organisations.
We at LUSEM are involved in the entire process, from needs analysis and concept development to the implementation of the training itself. Contact us if you would like more information about how you can work with us to develop a course package that suits your business and circumstances.
Professionals (employees) and contract education
Our courses and programmes bring you as an employee new knowledge and strengthen your skills in your professional role. Your participation is approved and paid for by your employer, it is not possible to buy contract education as a private individual. Contract education does not have the same eligibility requirements as regular university studies, which means that in most cases you do not necessarily need to have any previous experience of university studies to be able to register for/participate in contract education. Your practical skills are an important part of contract education and contribute to universities being able to capture valuable perspectives from society around us.
