Tell us about what you do today!
“I work as a Senior Analyst in cyber security at Accenture in Malmö. Since joining the company two years ago, I have worked on several projects where I have gained a lot of experience – both in my role as a consultant, and also in the field of cyber security. I am currently working with security architecture, which is about understanding the overall picture of a company when it comes to security matters and different security components.“

What is the main reason you work with what you do?
“During my last semester of the Master's Programme in Information Systems, I collaborated with two other students to write my master's thesis focusing on information security from a "work-from-home" perspective. A recurring discussion and reminder we had during our thesis writing was to constantly narrow down our thesis topic in security as we discovered how abundant the field actually is. It was this, along with all the help and inspiration we received from our supervisor Miranda Kajtazi, that made me want to start my post-studies career in cyber security. During the thesis process, I became more and more curious about digital security (and all that it entails) but also inspired and motivated to continue developing my skills in the field.“

How did the Department of Informatics and LUSEM prepare you for working life and a career in your field?
“Both the bachelor's and master's programme at the Department of Informatics prepared me well for the world of work through the range and structure of all the courses. By the time I graduated, I felt that I had gained a broad understanding of various IT topics, both organisational and technical. The majority of the courses also included a group assignment, which gave me insight into what it is like to be part of the equivalent of a project team.“

What advice would you give yourself if you started your studies now?
“"Trust the process" – whether it's the start of a new semester, course or assignment. I found certain stages of my studies overwhelming if I had little or no knowledge of a subject.“

“A study technique I developed and used during my studies to deal with the above was to spend a few hours at the beginning of each term getting an overview of what was to come. I listed all the courses of the semester, group assignments, individual assignments, dates of exams and assignments, and contact details to the course directors. This way, I could "check off" when different elements were finished, but also already be partially "introduced" to a course before it started.“

Tell us about your expectations for the future.
“I want to continue working in cyber security architecture and gain a better understanding of how and why different security components are necessary for e.g. an organisation's security maturity. This, together with the opportunity to work on a project outside of Sweden for some time, would be very inspiring and motivating.“

What do you prefer to do outside of work?
“I enjoy seeing family & friends, going for long walks with our dog and being creative.“

Any hidden talent?
“Linked to what I like to do in my spare time – my hidden talent is that I can draw and paint!“
