There are few organisations today, private and public, that are not somehow affected by digitalisation. Most of today’s managerial work requires knowledge and toolsets to manage the different aspects of the omnipresent reshaping of the organisational landscape that is digitalisation. Digitalisation, however, has different meanings for different stakeholders in any given organisation and it may span from automation to transformation of core processes. Digitalisation have the power to disrupt established business models and to create new, never before seen, business models. This course aims to provide an insight into the technological and managerial landscape that information technologies are building today.
The course constitutes the second semester of the Bachelor's Programme in Design of Information Systems and is only offered to programme students.

Kursen innehåller sex delar:
- Gruppdynamik och kommunikation
- Organisation, verksamhet och IS
- Projektledning
- IT-rätt
- Interaktionsdesign
- Projektrapport
Gruppdynamik och kommunikation handlar om gruppsykologi på både det generella och individuella planet, samt hur dessa kunskaper används, dels i grupprocesser, dels eget beteende i samspel med andra. Dessa översiktliga kunskaper i gruppsykologi förvärvat under kursen är tänkt att vara relevant dels för projektarbete under resten av terminen, dels för senare arbete i yrkeslivet.
Organisation, verksamhet och IS handlar om organisationsstrukturer och effektivitetsbegreppets koppling till organisation och strategi i organisationer. Dessutom behandlas IS och IT ur organisations- och verksamhetsperspektiv.
Projektledning handlar om ledning av IT-projekt. Delkursen tar upp kunskapshantering i projekt, agila metoder, och vanligt förekommande utmaningar i IT-projekt. Under delkursen får du kunskaper i hur man startar
upp, genomför och avrapporterar projekt och om hur man arbetar med olika roller i ett projekt.
IT-rätt genomförs i samarbete med institutionen för handelsrätt och handlar om de rättsregler som aktualiseras i samband med användandet av informationstekniken (IT) samt hur grundläggande juridisk problemlösning och argumentation genomförs inom detta område.
Interaktionsdesign handlar om hur analyser av verksamheters användningskrav kan utvecklas och implementeras. Du lär dig att applicera interaktionsdesign-principer i design av grafiska användargränssnitt. Olika metoder och tillvägagångssätt behandlas liksom hur interaktionsdesign kan bidra till bättre lösningar.
IS-projekt, rapport innebär att kunskaper från övriga moduler ska användas inför och under en förändringsprocess som omfattar förändring och införande av IS och därmed följande förändringar av organisationen.

Projektarbetet utförs på sista terminen på det Systemvetenskapliga programmet och innebär att studenterna i grupp om fyra skall utföra, dokumentera och presentera ett informationssystemsprojekt utfört för en extern problemägare. Projektet är förankrat i en verklig situation med ett konkret problem. Man kan säga att projektgrupperna skall ta sig an ett skarpt konsultuppdrag. I detta projektarbete ska studenterna tillämpa sina tidigare inhämtade kunskaper inom utveckling av informationssystem (IS), projektarbete, etc. Uppdraget kan vara en utredning, en utformning, en implementering o.s.v. Projektarbetet ska resultera i en rapport och projektdokumentation som försvaras vid seminarium. Examinationen väger in uppdragsgivarens bedömning av projektarbetet och resultatet.

Course description
The Master Thesis involves independent work in teams of two students addressing a research problem. This is an independent piece of work, which means that the student-teams must themselves find a problem-area, they will not be provided with pre-defined problems. The problem-area must be relevant to informatics as a social science, but it may not be any kind of problem within the social sciences. Next the student-team must formulate a research-question and present a relevant theoretical framework, which provides the basis for planning and conducting an empirical investigation, and the student-team must also draw conclusions from the empirical investigation and the theoretical framework. Finally the investigation and the findings must be presented in a written thesis, which is examined at a seminar.
In your thesis you will use quantitative or qualitative approaches, or some combination of these. The course on Information Systems Research Methods provide you with the appropriate knowledge and tools.
