LUSEM’s Nexus Series on AI

The rapid development of AI is reshaping research, teaching, and society at large, presenting both opportunities and challenges. AI offers new methods of data generation but also raises ethical and legal concerns, such as compliance with regulations. In research, AI assists in data analysis, drafting, and translation; in education, it supports lesson preparation and assessments, necessitating adherence to ethical guidelines. Broader applications include task automation and decision making in sectors like healthcare and governance. However, AI’s potential for bias, privacy risks, job displacement, and inequality highlights the need for responsible integration.

The growing importance AI will be explored during the Nexus seminar series during 2025. This series will allow staff involved in AI-related projects to share insights and discuss AI’s broader implications. The goal is to inspire colleagues and expand knowledge on AI’s usage and societal impact.

Three tracks

The Nexus Seminar Series on AI follows three tracks:

  • AI in Research (AIR): Exploring AI's role in data generation and analysis.
  • AI in Teaching (AIT): Investigating AI's role in education.
  • AI and Society (AIS): Examining AI’s societal impacts.
