Double degree programmes

Lund University School of Economics and Management has joined forces with some of the best business schools to offer four double degree programmes.

A double degree programme means that you will spend one semester or one year abroad, and obtain a Master’s degree from both Lund University and from the partner university. In addition to a valuable international experience, this gives your education an extra edge and the opportunity to benefit from the expertise and resources from two well-renowned universities.

MSc Economic Development and Growth

Year one:
Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (60 credits), or:
University or Groningen (60 credits)

Year two:
Lund University School of Economics and Management (60 credits)
Master's in Economic Development and Growth

In this double degree programme, you spend the first year studying at either Universidad Carlos III de Madrid or University of Groningen. Conditional on successful completion of the first year, you spend the second year at Lund University.

Application and admission is administrated by Universidad Carlos III Madrid and University of Groningen respectively depending on where you want to study your first year. To increase your chance of admission, you are welcome to apply to both universities.

Students admitted to the Master’s in Economic Development and Growth in either Madrid or Groningen who complete the first year and are selected for the second year, will automatically be admitted to Lund.

MSc Finance

Year one:
Lund University School of Economics and Management (60 credits)
Master's in Finance

Year two:
Emlyon business school (60 credits), or:
University of Groningen (30 credits)

For selected students that deliver very good study results during the initial semester of the programme, double-degree options with Emlyon business school and University of Groningen will be offered.

Emlyon business school (60 credits)

The programme at Emlyon business school takes place in Lyon and Paris with two learning trips abroad. Four specialisations are available for you to choose within the MSc in Finance. At the end of the programme you are invited to apply for an internship. No further thesis is required for the degree at Emlyon. The length of the programme is two semesters. 

The studies at Emlyon business school will take place the semester after you have obtained your Master’s degree in Finance in Lund. 

After the completion of the Master's in Finance at Lund University School of Economics and Management and the completion of the courses at Emlyon business school, students will receive a separate Master's degree certificate in Finance from each university. All students pay tuition fees to emlyon business school, approximately €16 000.

University of Groningen (30 credits)

After completing the Master’s in Finance (60 credits), you can take a third semester (30 credits of course work) at the University of Groningen, studying parts of their Master's in Finance programme. You do not need to write another thesis.

After the completion of the Master's in Finance at Lund University School of Economics and Management and the completion of the courses at University of Groningen, students will receive a separate Master's degree certificate in Finance from each university. 

Double degree candidates shall pay tuition fees to University of Groningen for the period of studies. Students from EU/EEA: approximately €1040. Students from non-EU/EEA: approximately €7325

MSc Innovation and Global Sustainable Development

Year one:
Lund University School of Economics and Management (60 credits)
Master's in Innovation and Global Sustainable Development

Year two:
Aalborg University (30 credits), and:
Lund University School of Economics and Management (30 credits)

If you are enrolled in this programme, you will have an opportunity to apply for  a double degree with Aalborg University. After completing the first year in Lund, you take your third semester (30 credits of course work) at Aalborg University and return back to Lund for the fourth and final semester of your programme. You apply in February, during your second semester.

The program is collaborating with Aalborg University, and their MSc in Innovation, Knowledge and Economic Dynamics.

In addition to the degree MSc in Innovation and Global Sustainable Development issued by Lund, parttaking students will also receive one of the following degrees from Aalborg University:

  • MSc in Economics (Innovation, Knowledge and Economic Dynamics) 
  • MSc in Economics and Business Administration (Innovation, Knowledge and Entrepreneurial Dynamics)

Requirements to apply 

  • Student is registered for full-time studies within the programme at the School of Economics and Management.
  • Student has completed semester one.
  • Student fulfills the language requirements as set by the host university
  • Student has not already been on exchange through the Master in Innovation and Global Sustainable Development programme. 

Requirements to go

All nominations are conditional, i.e. students need to have passed semester one and two to be able to go. Individual exceptions for Master Essay 1 can be made if approved by the programme director.

Students should not study the same courses on exchange as they have already studied in Lund, i.e. no overlapping of courses. All courses have to be approved by the programme director.

Course selection

Students will be enrolled in following courses:

  • Contemporary Issues in Innovation and Development Research and Policy.
  • Data Science and Advanced Methods for Studying Innovation and Development. 
  • You have the option to study an elective either broaden your field of expertise or further deepen your specialization with courses that are not offered in Lund. Example of courses available: Executing Entrepreurial ideas, Innovation Management.

Tuition fees

Students who do not pay tuition fees in Sweden are not required to pay tuition fees at the host university. Tuition-fee-paying students who are citizens of a non-EU/EEA country must pay a tuition fee to Lund University during their exchange semester, but not to Aalborg University.

MSc International Strategic Management

Year one:
Lund University School of Economics and Management (60 credits)
Master's in International Strategic Management

Year two:
Deakin University (30 credits)

Students enrolled in this programme will have an opportunity to compete for acceptance to a double degree with Deakin University at their Melbourne campus. After completing the one-year Master's in International Strategic Management (60 credits), you can take an additional trimester (4 units, July-November) within the Master of Commerce. You do not need to write another thesis. You apply in February, during your second semester in Lund.

After the successful completion of the Master's in International Strategic Management at Lund University and successful completion of the courses at Deakin University, students will receive a Master's degree certificate in Business and Economics with a major in Business Administration from Lund University and a Master of Commerce (specializing in marketing) from Deakin University.

  • Student is registered for full-time studies within the programme at the School of Economics and Management.
  • Student has completed semester one.
  • Student fulfills the language requirements as set by the host university

Course selection 

Students will be enrolled in the course MPM755 Building Success in Commerce (core unit). In addition, students should take 3 marketing units selected from:

  • MMK738 Integrated Marketing Communication
  • MMK739 Strategic Brand Management
  • MPK736 International Marketing
  • MMPK713 Consumer behavior
  • MMK751 Services Marketing
