Internships for Bachelor’s programme students

Bachelor’s students at LUSEM can do part of their education at a company, embassy, NGO:s or at private and public organisations and get professional merits during study time. Students can find an internship on their own, or apply for our pre-approved internships with the Schools corporate partners.

Doing an internship means working at a company or in an organization, integrating knowledge and theory from your education with practical application and skills development in a professional environment. This not only adds valuable experience to your resume but also provides an opportunity to test and enhance your skills, build a professional network, and gain insight into the working world

How to apply for an internship

1. Make sure that you are eligible to apply for an internship course

It is important that the tasks of your internship are of high quality. It is part of your education, even if you are conducting it in a company or organisation. You can receive ECTS (and thus also funding from CSN) for internships and making it a part of your degree, if you are eligible, apply in time and get admitted to an internship course.

2. Find and get an internship

LUSEM Career Services co-operates with our partner companies to provide a selection of qualified and pre-approved internships each semester, both in Sweden and abroad.
You may also find an internship on your own. This requires some extra work on your behalf since it needs to be approved by the School.

  • The internship should be an extension of your programme, a learning experience that will give you the opportunity to apply your theoretical knowledge from your academic education.
  • The internship should have a defined beginning and end, as well as a job description with the desired qualifications.
  • There should be clearly defined learning goals/objectives for the internship, that are linked to your education.
  • There should also be a supervisor available at the workplace during the entire period you are doing your internship.

To be able to get ECTS credits for an internship, you need both an internship and a place on an internship course. To be able to apply and be admitted to an internship course, you first need to have an internship. Follow these steps to secure an internship on your own:

  1. Find a qualified internship within your field of studies.
  2. Got an internship? Great! Don't forget to apply for an internship course. The internship must be approved by the course director in order for you to receive academic credits for your internship.
  3. After the internship, you submit the report required for you to receive your ECTS credits. Detailed instructions for this can be found in syllabi for each internship course.
