Prominent investment banks visit Lund and the Investment Banking Forum

Published: 2022-09-16

Lund University Finance Society (LINC) give you the unique opportunity to meet the top firms in the finance industry and bridge the gap between your education and a career in finance.

Some of the LINC members behind the event: Oscar Wennberg (Head of External Partnerships), Adrian Elmlund (President), Kajsa Persson (Head of Marketing and Communication), Benjamin Middleton (Head of Event) and Gustav Jäderberg (Vice President).

The Investment Banking Forum is LINC’s largest and most popular event of the year. This year marks the 16th consecutive edition where the most prominent investment banks in the world come to LUSEM to present their banks, network, and at times even actively recruit students. We asked Adrian Elmlund, president of LINC, a couple of questions about the event.

Why should you partake in the Investment Banking Forum?

“This is a unique opportunity to meet the top firms in the finance industry. This year, participating firms are ABG Sundal Collier, Bank of America, Barclays, BNP Paribas, Danske Bank, Fidelity Investments, Handelsbanken, Morgan Stanley, and SEB. All attendees will interact with the firm representatives through workshops, case studies, a lunch break, mingle sessions and interviews. We will end the event with a three-course dinner. As an added bonus, a CV booklet comprised of all the attending student’s CVs, will be handed out to the participating firms before the event. Candidates that catch the eyes of the firms will be offered an interview before the workshops begin. This is a great opportunity to get a head start in the hiring process and get to know the representatives.”

Do you have to study finance to get involved with LINC?

“Studying finance is not a requirement; roughly 25% of our members come from the Faculty of Engineering, LTH! What we look for in new members is a drive, passion for finance, and a willingness to learn. It is the genuine interest that matters.”

What else is on LINC’s agenda this academic year?

“We offer a wide range of activities throughout the year. Our core is made up of our research teams, called Research & Analysis. We have three different teams, giving weekly lectures on financial modelling, company valuation, quantitative analysis, and much more. The Applications to the R&A teams are now closed but will open again at the beginning of next semester. LINC also host multiple recurring annual events, such as the Investment Banking Forum, Transaction Advisory Forum, and Women’s Business Forum. We also travel to London, Stockholm, and Copenhagen, where we meet leading financial institutions during their recruitment process. We receive company presentations, tours around the trading floors, hints and tips about the industry and application processes, and meet representatives across different divisions.”

Where can I keep track of your events?

“We post all of our events on our social media. Make sure to follow us to avoid missing out on any events. If you have any questions or wish to speak with us, don’t hesitate to reach out or come down and talk to us in the LINC finance lab below Ljusgården.”
