The Scanian Economic Demographic Database turns 40!

In 1983, a collaboration between the Department of Economic History at Lund University and the Regional Archives in Lund was commenced with the purpose of collecting demographic data from church registers. This collaboration was the foundation of the Scanian Demographic Database, later the Scanian Economic Demographic Database (SEDD), which today embraces more than 200 000 individuals spanning the period 1650-1968. The database has enabled a large amount of research work and is still essential for much of the research that is produced at the Centre for Economic Demography at Lund University. The SEDD is also part of the national research infrastructure SwedPop.
